Thomas Thwaite was the son of Simon and Mary Ann Thwaite, née Metcalfe. Both parents were born at Mossdale near Hawes, Yorkshire. Thomas’s cousin, Agnes Thwaite Russell, née Dinsdale, was the mother of A/L/Corporal Thomas Russell (P/2584) (q.v.) and L/Corporal William Russell (183931) (q.v.)
