‘Shipley Times and Express’ (6 December 1918)

WINDHILL

SHOT THROUGE [sic] THE HEART. – Private R. Mortimer, West Yorkshire Regiment, whose wife lives at 32, Fairbank, Windhill, was shot through the heart by a machine gun bullet on October 11th. He joined up in October, 1916, went to the front in January, 1917, won the Military Medal in March, 1918, and was later recommended for the bar. He was employed at Short Bank Quarry, Skipton, for six years previous to joining up.
