The British Army Service Record for Robert Rathmell Herdman exists but may be incomplete. [Information received from the German Prisoner of War Office states that R.R. If Robert's body was found and re-buried after the war it would probably have been at Pargny British Cemetery as an unknown British soldier.]

Robert is commemorated on the Bishop Auckland War Memorial and in the Book of Remembrance 1914-18.
