John Maughan (born 4 January 1890) was the son of John and Annie Maughan, née Robinson. John senior was born in East Witton without, Yorkshire and Annie at Cockerton, Co. Durham. Annie died in 1896 and John married Frances Haslewood (born Oswaldtwistle, Lancashire, c. 1875).
